Eric Fitch (born September 8th, 1994 in Phoenix, Arizona) developed his love for motorsports at an early age, growing up watching his father race an NHRA Super Gas drag car. At age three, Eric’s father bought him his first mini-bike and he raced his first Motocross race at age eleven. Eric continued on the Motocross path until he was introduced to short-course off road when he purchased his first pro Buggy race car and was licensed to race the 2012 Lucas Oil Off road racing season at age 17, making him the youngest competitor in the Pro series. What started as an interest quickly turned “real” during Eric’s first race, which was round one of the 2012 season. It didn’t take long to realize that every driver was as eager as Eric to be the fastest and best driver on the course. Racing in a pro series class, where there is no room for error, Eric and the team went through a steep learning curve. With a hard fought season Eric respectably finished 12th in the championship point standings out of 36 competitors his rookie season.
Fitch finished the 2014 season with a strong 7th place finish in the championship points standings out of 25 competitors. Fitch’s practice, qualifying and race times have been among the fastest in Pro-Buggy class, gaining the attention of officials, competitors and sponsors alike. Fitch’s growing confidence, comfort and ease behind the wheel and maturity make him a serious race-contender. With 56 percent of the 2014 races being top 5 finishes. In that 56 percent Fitch gained six podiums, three 1st place finishes, one 2ndplace finish and two 3rd place finishes. One of the third place finishes was in the Lucas Oil Off road Challenge cup, the toughest race of the season were Fitch had to fight his way through a lot of racing carnage to be on the podium.
With Eric’s ability to win and be a contender for the podium every time he hits the track he has decided to bring his skills to the ever so competitive class of Pro 2 Unlimited. This off season Eric and Fitch Racing have designed and built a brand new truck that is going to be second to none. The 2016 season is going to be full of challenges but Eric says “it’s nothing we can’t handle my team and I are more ready than we have ever been.”
“The Pro2 class will be stronger with Pro Buggy Star Eric Fitch joining the already deep pool of Contenders” –Lucas Oil Off Road.
