Continental Tire Helps Local Students Through ‘Alive at 25’ Event

  • First of three events to be held Saturday, December 10 at Fort Mill High School.

  • $25,000 scholarship will help over 1,000 local high school students across three school districts participate in the program free of charge.

Fort Mill, SC – December 1, 2011. For the second straight year, Continental Tire the Americas will join forces with the South Carolina National Safety Council (SCNSC) to sponsor the “Alive at 25” safe driving course.  “Alive at 25” is a young driver intervention program that zeroes in on drivers between the ages of 15 and 24 - the group most likely to be involved in fatal collisions.

Event Details:

Event:  Alive at 25
When:  Saturday, December 10, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Participants:  Students of Fort Mill and Nation Ford High Schools
Where:  Fort Mill High School – 225 Munn Road; Fort Mill, SC; 29714

Over 1,000 students from the Fort Mill and Lancaster School Districts along with students at York Comprehensive will participate in the program over three events.  “Alive at 25” is a survival course developed by the National Safety Council and is designed to prevent the number one killer of teens, automobile crashes.  The course is taught by off duty Deputy Sheriffs, and Municipal Police Officers and is delivered in one 4 ½ hour program which focuses on the behaviors and decision-making paradigms that young drivers and passengers display behind the wheel.

Media – The “Alive at 25” course is closed to the general public but the media are invited to attend.  Please contact Sheri Herrmann, PLT communications coordinator for Continental Tire at (704)583-8151 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
