Fort Mill, SC – (Nov. 8, 2011). Starting the long-awaited SEMA show off with a bang, SEMA announced on Oct. 31 that Continental Tire’s ground-breaking CrossContact™ LX20 tire with EcoPlus Technology was awarded “Best New Tire and Related Product” for its innovative low-rolling resistance and fuel-saving features. Last year, Continental’s ProContact™ with EcoPlus Technology tire was awarded the same honor.
The new dynamic CrossContact™ LX20 with EcoPlus Technology is Continental Tire’s premier all-season tire, developed to deliver improved fuel economy and treadwear, reduce harmful CO2 emissions, and surpass the competition — which it does, stopping 34 feet shorter than the leading competitor in independent wet braking tests.
Also at SEMA, the much-anticipated Continental Tire Dream Giveaway came to a close. Continental’s Travis Roffler, director of marketing, announced Nov. 1 that Charlotte, NC resident Henry Biedrzycki was the official winner of the 2011 charitable giveaway. Biedrzycki, 57, was handed the keys to a pair of matching Porsche vehicles at the Continental Tire booth, taking home the 2011 Hurley Haywood Edition Porsche 911 GT3 (with a Serial #1 of 1) and a 2011 Porsche Cayenne S. Hybrid — an award-winning luxury SUV.
The promotion garnered more than $200,000 in net proceeds, which Roffler presented to two beneficiaries in the form of an over-sized check: WorldCause Foundation, a humanitarian organization, and Camp Boggy Creek, a year-round medical camp for children.
That’s not all Continental had in store for this year’s SEMA event. The tire manufacturer also released an updated version of its online media portal, www.CTAMedia.com.
The new-and-improved site launched at the start of SEMA, lighting up computer screens throughout the Continental Tire-sponsored Las Vegas Convention Center Media Center.
CTAMedia’s new, sleek layout houses hundreds of press releases — from the latest news to archives dating back to 2008. Full-text press releases can be downloaded as Word documents and all images are available for low- and high-resolution download. The site also features a social media portal, designed to easily guide media to Continental Tire’s Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts.
